Recently, NYS approved a new DBA (Doing Business As) for the Association. In 1934, when the Association was incorporated, the name picked was the “Firemen’s Association”. As the years progressed, the Association recognized that the term firemen was not a encompassing name. So, in order to be a more inclusive organization to reflect the modern times, we created a DBA called the “Monroe County Volunteer Firefighters Association”. Since this is only a DBA, the original certificate of incorporation still exists where we are called the firemen’s association for legal and financial purposes. But for our members and the community, we will now be known as the Monroe County Volunteer Firefighters Association.
