
Alvin F. “Al” Sweet
MCVFA Historian – Rush Fire DepartmentJanuary 25 2025- age 93
Chief Sweet was a 73 year member of the Rush Fire Department where he served as Chief and Fire Commissioner. Chief Sweet was a Past 5th Battalion Fire Coordinator. Al also served in many firematic organizations including the Monroe County Fire Chiefs Association as their President. For MCVFA, Al served as our Association historian.

Clarence W. Spohr
MCVFA Past Sgt-at-Arms – Henrietta Fire Company #1December 9, 2025- age 82
Past Sgt-at-Arms Spohr was a 60 year member of the Henrietta Fire Company #1 where he served as Captain of the Fire Police and a Board of Director. Clarence served in many firematic organizations including the Monroe County Fire Police Association as their President.

Paul L. Tracy
MCVFA Past Director – Penfield Fire DepartmentMay 7, 2025- age 87
Past Director Tracy was a 42 year member of the Penfield Fire Company where he served as Captain of the Fire Police. Paul served in many firematic organizations including MCVFA, where he served as the 3rd Battalion Director for many years.

Royer F. Pfersick
MCVFA President (2022-2023) – Rush FDMarch 24, 2025- age 75
Royer was a Member of the Rush Volunteer Fire Department, a life member of Storm King Engine Company No. 2 (SKE) in Cornwall-on-Hudson, and a retired member of FDNY EMS. During the 9/11 Attacks, Royer was called out of retirement to serve FDNY and spent the next 10 days assisting in numerous roles from searching to accountability. Royer was a member of many Fire and EMS organizations, including the Firefighters Association of the State of New York, Northern Central New York Volunteer Firefighters Association, Western New York Volunteer Firefighters Association, Monroe County Volunteer Firefighters Association where he was a past President and Chaplain. Royer was also a member of the Monroe County Volunteer Fire Police Association, the Fire Police Association of the State of New York and the New York State Chaplains Association.

Lynn W. Mack
MCVFA President (1980 – 1982) – Rush FDDecember 22, 2023- age 82
Lynn was a Member of the Rush Volunteer Fire Department where he had served as a line officer and as fire commissioner. Lynn was President of the MCVFA from 1980 – 1982.

Dennis M. Joy
MCVFA Past Director, Barnard Fire DepartmentAugust 30, 2023
Dennis was a Past Director of the MCVFA. Dennis was also a member of the Barnard Fire Department, where he was a past Chaplain, Director, President and Fire Commissioner.

Lynd T. Hicks
MCVFA President (2010-2012) – Spencerport FDOctober 21, 2022 – age 73
Lynd was a Life Member of the Spencerport Volunteer Firemen’s Association, Spencerport Volunteer Firemen’s Exempts Association, Past President of the Monroe County Volunteer Firemen’s Association, Monroe County Volunteer Fire Police Association, and Area Director of the NYS Volunteer Fire Police Association. He also belonged to Western and Northern Central Volunteer Firemen’s organizations.

Thomas E. Eiswerth
MCVFA President (1992-1994), FASNY Past President – Pittsford FDMarch 16, 2022
Tom was a Past President of the MCVFA and Past President of FASNY. Tom was also a member of the Pittsford Fire Department. When Tom left Rochester, he was a co-founder of the Alpharetta Fire Corps Volunteers for nearly 17 years.

Edward J. Sexton Jr.
MCVFA Past Director – Penfield FDJanuary 23, 2022, age of 91
Ed was a Past Director of the MCVFA and served on many committees for the Association. Ed was also a Life Member of NCNYVFA. Director Sexton was also a member of the Penfield Fire Department.

Ted V. Summers, Jr.
MCVFA Past Treasurer – Pittsford FDOctober 8th, 2021, age of 92
Ted joined the Pittsford Fire Department in 1964 where he served continuously for 54 years, with 50 of those years as the organization’s Treasurer. Over subsequent years he also served as Treasurer for the Monroe County Volunteer Firemen’s Association, Pittsford Fire Department Explorer Post 595, Boy Scout Troop 341 and as Budget and Finance Committee Chairman for Northern Central Volunteer Firemen’s Association.
